Amanda is just SO extremely talented + was actually OUR florist for our wedding!! Needless to say, we stand behind everything she has to say! Her wisdom is unmatchable, talent extraordinary, + heart SO generous + kind : )

With wedding season now beginning, we thought this would be a perfect time for Amanda to share with brides + future brides how to get the MOST out of their flower experience. ENJOY her words, + have a beautiful Tuesday!!

A Floral Designers Top 3 Tips for a Wonderful Wedding Flower Experience

I am so excited + honored to share some tips with you today. When Maison + Caleb reached out + asked me to be a guest blogger I knew JUST what I wanted to talk about. I consult with brides on a weekly basis + I’ve noticed three main areas that can lead to stress or disappointment. My hope is that by sharing these tips, you can have a more enjoyable experience when it comes to deciding on wedding flowers! So let’s get to it, shall we?

Tip 01. If you have your heart absolutely set on using a certain flower, set your wedding date accordingly.

I’ve lost count of the number of times brides have been heartbroken that their *gotta have it* bloom of choice isn’t available at the time of their wedding.  Love those big, fluffy peonies, or want to carry Lily of the Valley like your grandmother did? Don’t choose a wedding date in September! I married the love of my life on a FREEZING January day (literally guys, it was sooooo cold) because I may have a (((slight))) obsession with ranunculus. I knew the unique green variety I wanted to incorporate was most likely to be found that month! Do some research + find out when your favorite flowers are in season!!

Tip 02. Be honest + upfront about your budget. You can have absolutely gorgeous flowers at ANY budget, just have realistic expectations.

I’m a firm believer that you can have beautiful flowers at any budget. I am also a firm believer that you can’t get a brand new top of the line Mercedes for the price of a used Kia. What do the two have to do with each other? Realistic expectations. Only want to spend $500 on your wedding flowers? That’s fine! Your florist will be able to create a beautiful bouquet for you, a boutonniere for your groom + a nice ceremony or accent arrangement for you. Do you have a bridal party of 18, need bouquets + bouts for all of them, + want lush ceremony flowers + big centerpieces on all 30 guest tables? You’re just not going to get that kind of opulence on a $1,000 budget. So, be open + up front about how much you’d like to invest in your wedding flowers – and prioritize items to help decide what must stay + what can go.

Tip 03. Hire a florist you love + trust, then TRUST THEM. Micromanagement will only lead to disappointment.

Your wedding day is a big deal. You’ve spent countless hours making sure all the little details are just right. We understand that + we want your flowers to be as beautiful as possible! So, pick a florist (or any other vendor) you love, + let them do their thing. Your flowers will be so much prettier if your florist is allowed to use a bit of creative freedom!

So there you have it – my top 3 tips to make your wedding floral experience a wonderful thing. Hope you find them helpful!
